We are right in the middle of a three day summertime nor’easter. Winds are gusting to 50mph. There are boats starting to break free from their moorings and drifting up on the beach or sinking. Here is a video clip I shot today from down at Sayle’s Seafood.

The calendar says it’s the first day of summer. It feels and looks more like the first day of January around here. I have never seen anything like this in all the years I’ve lived here (44 years). If this horrible weather pattern doesn’t break soon, we’re in big trouble. I bundled up and ventured down to the waterfront this afternoon and grabbed a few shots.

A new little dragger showed up at the Town Pier recently as part of the fluke fleet. Her name is Underwing. Mark, the owner of the Drifter owns her. He just finished her off. There is no net reel or winches installed yet. She will be used as a buy boat this summer for the fluke boats that fish out of here. She’s a big, heavy, wide boat. I’ve never seen a boat as wide as her. She must be at least 20 feet wide. I’m guessing she’s around 45 feet long. Here are a couple of pictures of Underwing I took tonite.

There were a lot of egrets at Monomoy Beach this afternoon. They were feeding on bait that was in the shallows. Click here for photos.

Seems as though the weather is never going to get nice around here. This is THE worst Spring I can ever remember here. It feels Like January. Hopefully, we’ll be able to salvage July and August. In any event, I bundled up and went down to the waterfront this evening to see what was going on . . .

I caught up with Captain Ken Wiggin while I was out and about in my boat today. Here are a couple of shots of Ken in his boat from today.

The offshore lobster boat, Merlin, was splashed recently. She’s an offshore lobster boat owned by Chuck Butler. Chuck once dived on the wrecked ocean liner, Andrea Doria. Click here for photos.
