Steve's only rule while on Nantucket was "There are no rules." He would let our 3 young boys, labeled by Steve and Alan as "the backfield", invade their beach buggy for hours out on Great Point so they could imagine themselves as great explorers and anglers. The jeep, never moving an inch during those journeys, was their unwritten creative license to do anything and everything they could mentally conjure up, because Steve designed it so. He made the connection between a 67 year old man and 3 little boys, seamless. We miss him, greatly.

Hi Greg, I'll explain my feelings on the saltwater license today. It will save us money, as the feds wanted the license to cost more than the state is going to charge. If the money collected is used for enforcement, and/or propagation of fish, I'm all for it. Should the state use the money for purposes other than the fishery, that's reprehensible. Florida has had a saltwater fishing license for several years and anglers seem to be okay with it. And yes, Earl was a pearl. **David**

Earl was indeed a good man.....one of the first people I met when I washed ashore. I am sad to hear of his passing.

Next week, David, how about some comments on our new $10 state saltwater license?
